Lulu magazine

Mostly I feel like I should always be somewhere else, doing something else.

But occasionally there is a rare still moment when I feel I am in the right place at the right time and there is nowhere else, but right there and then.

One of those times is reading Lulu magazine.

ALL

The Guggenhiem's Maurizio Cattelan's "All" is a strangely moving experience. As they say, he is hailed as a tragic poet of our times, a humorist or a prankster.
He seems all that and more, a comic tragic poet.
This installation filled me with awe - in the spiralling journey around it, I could not but wonder at the comically dark soul of his thoughts, plus add to that, the feat of engineering that put all those pieces of art together hanging of a rig in the Guggenhiem atrium and you have something, dear readers that makes my heart sing.

John Derian

I can't believe I hadn't been to John Derian's amazing two stores in New Yorks lower east side before now.

Crowded to bursting with unique, gorgeous and very special Christmas gifts, like an Aladdin's cave of deliriously desirable items. I was overcome with longing and filled with a sense of sadness that neither my home or purse couldn't accommodate everything in the shop.

The range of dinosaur Xmas decorations was especially heart meltingly desirable. I longed for one of each.

The toadstool trend continues, now as a xmas decoration, it is a trend to be dissected in a later post.
Meanwhile my admiration for Mr Derian is limitless.

Paper bags

What is it the gives paper chains and paper dolls an air of poignancy?
Maybe it is the sense of past celebrations, a now old fashioned decoration...
However here the idea is refreshed into a classic handbag shape
